Dear Parents,
I hope that you all are having a wonderful new year! It is hard to believe that the school year is already half way over.

The Roll-a-Thon this past week was a success! The Kindergarten and Pre-K students love to spend time with the older students, and it was great to see them all working together! It really brings us all closer together as a community.

The Kindergarten/Pre-K classroom has been busier than ever. This month we began reading groups! A few times a week the students meet with me in smaller groups to work on skills that will help them read at their level. They love it! We also began Writers’ Workshop. We learned about making word webs, which will help them when they are writing. Eventually they will be able to write Personal Narratives and Poems.

The students have worked hard on their Science Unit on the 5 senses. We explored the different senses and learned about how they work. Next we will move on to a unit on Space. We will be building a model of the solar system, which we will use for the Science Fair during Catholic Schools Week. When we are finished learning all about space. I hope to take them on a field trip to the University of Michigan's Natural Science Museum to visit the planetarium. They have special programs geared towards Pre-K and Kindergarten students. It should be a lot fun!

As Catholic Schools Week approaches I pray that we are all blessed in a special way. It is wonderful that we have the opportunity to be a part of Catholic Education. Thanks, and God Bless!
